January 16th, 2026 I received the email I was waiting for. I was officially named a winner in the Canadian Choice Awards 2026. To say this journey was overwhelming would be an understatement. I first heard back in November 2025 while I was at my first vendor event The Mom Market-Windsor, the email was to let me know I was an Official Nominee.
And then came the next part, I had to wait another month, bringing us to December 2025 until I would hear back about if I was a finalist. Thankfully I did hear back on December 22nd, 2025 I became a Finalist. That where the stress hit even more.
Once you become a finalist, it's then up to the community to add their full input, along with a business owner feedback. I sent out the link for the community feedback so fast, and later that same night I filled out the business owner feedback form. Once I clicked that button there wasn't much of anything else I could do. I was hoping my clients and community members would do their part and they did.
So that brings us to January 16th 2026, at 7:02pm I didn't think I would get the email that late. But I did, I was casually playing my Switch because the new Animal Crossing update came out. To say I cried would be an understatement, I cried, I texted people frantically, I posted about it on social media.
I am extremely thankful and blessed, for all the family, friends, clients and community members who took the time to get me to this achievement. It shows me just hoe many people truly believe in everything I am doing. I am also extremely thankful for everyone who has stood next to me, and pushed me to start this business, and especially thankful for my boyfriend who one day in April said "hey why don't you start the photography business". Thankful for everyone who behind the scenes makes sure the days run smoothly when I am not home.
Thankful to be able to capture memories and moments in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London, and sometimes even further.
